Book Exhibit Attracts Youth in American Corner Xanthi

The American Corner in Xanthi organized a book exhibit commemorating International Children’s Book Day 2010 in early May. The exhibit featured more than 100 new, richly illustrated books by American authors, and was set up in Xanthi’s main square.

Celebrating Earth Day 2010 in Corfu

The American Corner in Corfu organized showing of environmental documentary “Tapped” to commemorate Earth Day 2010 on April 29.

Lecture on "Greek Transatlantic Migration” in AC HAU

Teacher and historian Margarita Dounia gave a lecture on “Greek Transatlantic Migration in the First Half of the Twentieth Century”. The event took place at the AC in the Hellenic American Union on March 15, 2010.

The American Corners are partnerships between the Cultural section of the American Embassy in Athens and six public libraries in Greece.

These are the Central Public Libraries of Corfu, Veria, Sparti, the Municipal Libraries of Nea Philadelphia and Xanthi, and the library of the Hellenic American Union.

The American Corners provide access to current and reliable information about the U.S. via book collections, the Internet, and through local programming to the general public.

The first American Corner was established in the Central Public Library of Veria in December 2003.
